Asset management isn't a new idea. People and businesses have been handling their assets for a long time. Since the 1980s, asset management has been used at more and more water utilities. The organizations that have benefited the most from it are the ones that understand it's not just about maintenance. Many have realized that a broader “big picture” strategic approach can help them create more value and better manage their assets.  In recent years, significant changes have occurred in the field of utility asset management; there has been increased emphasis on fostering a strong culture, good leadership, and implementation of formal asset management systems. This presentation will discuss the process of understanding where your organization is on its AM journey and offer practical guidance on navigating the path to your desired destination.
